It would not be far fetched to say that the LED light bulb revolution is here! Whether at home or in shop, LED is fast replacing other types of bulbs like incandescent.
“Why is this happening?”
Let us examine some of the advantages that LED has over its rivals. The yardstick by which bulbs are rated and measured is the lifespan period of the bulb. It goes without saying that the higher the lifespan, the higher the rating.
LED bulbs offer up to 100,000 hours while their rival traditional bulbs offer 2,000 hours. The difference is huge. This is one of the reasons why it makes sense to switch to LED. There is a condition attached to the impressive number of hours that the LED provides. You can call it ‘wear and tear’. The longer the LED bulb is used, the dimmer it gets over time therefore the factual lifespan might be a bit lower than advertisers would want you to believe.
This however does not dampen the illuminating brightness and capabilities of the LED. In fact, the LED bulb can be very advantageous to business owners who have digital displays. The bulbs will last longer which means your sign will last longer. They also consume less electricity and produce less heat compared to traditional bulbs. This can reduce the amount of money spent on electricity bills or expensive AC cooling systems.
Having said this, there are ways of ensuring you get optimum performance from your new LED light bulbs. These tips and practices can be implemented regardless of whether you are using the bulbs at home or in the shop.
Not Using The Bulb, Switch Off The Lights.
When you are not using the light bulbs remember to switch them off. This will help in preserving their lifespan. Remember, as the bulbs reach close to their lifespan limit they tend to become dimmer. 24-hour LED signage displays are exempt from this rule.
Let Your Bulbs Cool.
The LED bulbs have to be given some reprieve so that they can cool. The higher the heat in the LED bulb gets, the faster the lifespan limit is reached. Leaving the bulb off (for some much needed “relaxation time”), helps to keep your bulb bright as ever.
Flipping that on and off switch all the time is not a wise move. If you keep messing with the on/off switch, you are causing harm to your bulb’s lifespan. This is basic common sense.
The LED bulb is here to stay and will soon be the preferred method of lighting all over the world. The technology offers a lot of advantages to the user especially business owners.
When you need to spice things up, you can re-arrange the display and layout of the store. You can place the LED displays like gas price signs at strategic places to capture shopper’s attention. Add some well placed sales staff and you are bound to capture some new customers to boost your sales.
The term you have to become very familiar with is visual merchandising. The more creative you are, the more likely your display/ store will become a raving success (or at least the most well designed and illuminated shop on the whole street!)
